  1. China’s R&D spend continues to accelerate. At RMB 1.76 trillion in 2017, R&D spending was up 12.3% vs 2016. This compares with growth rates below 3% in the US, EU and Japan. However Chinese R&D is still 60% of the US total.    - Read more


  2. Sierra Leone has canceled a $400m Chinese-funded project to build a new airport outside the capital Freetown. Aviation Minister Kabineh Kallon said that the airport wasn't necessary and its current international airport would be renovated instead.   - Read more


  3. China is dramatically cutting US oil imports, even though it's not on the tariff list. Oil imports from the US dropped to zero in August.   - Read more


  4. Newly approved foreign-invested enterprises in China increased 102.7 percent to 41,331 in the first eight months, data from Ministry of Commerce showed. Evidence that lifting of China’s foreign investment caps is having an impact.  - Read more
