China’s R&D spend continues to accelerate. At RMB 1.76 trillion in 2017, R&D spending was up 12.3% vs 2016. This compares with growth rates below 3% in the US, EU and Japan. However Chinese R&D is still 60% of the US total. - Read more
Sierra Leone has canceled a $400m Chinese-funded project to build a new airport outside the capital Freetown. Aviation Minister Kabineh Kallon said that the airport wasn't necessary and its current international airport would be renovated instead. - Read more
